Recipe contest: Bring on the potatoes

Contest Guidelines 

Submissions must feature potatoes. Recipes will be judged for best tasting in the following categories:

  • Salad
  • Soup
  • Side/Appetizer
  • Casserole

Finalists in each category will win prizes and be entered into a random drawing for the grand prize, a Wisconsin Weekend Getaway to Minocqua.

Official Rules

  NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.

1. Mail entries to: attn: Wisconsin Trails Recipe Contest, 333 W. State St., Milwaukee, WI 53203. All entries must be received by 5 p.m. Sept. 21, 2009. 2. All recipes must be original. Absolutely no copyrighted material. 3. Recipes must be typed or clearly printed on one side of a standard letter size (8.5' x 11') paper. Each entry must be on a separate sheet of paper and include your name, address, phone number and email address in the upper right hand corner of each page. 4. Entries will not be acknowledged or returned. All entries become the property of Wisconsin Trails and Wisconsin Potato Growers Auxiliary (together, the "Promoter") and may be edited, modified, published and used without compensation.  5. You must be at least 18 years old to enter. No chefs or food professionals, and no employees or relatives of sponsors, Journal Communications, Inc. and its subsidiaries.  6. Winning contestants will be notified by Nov 15, 2009 and identified in the Jan/Feb 2010 issue of Wisconsin Trails. Entry constitutes permission to use the winner's name, recipe and hometown for editorial and promotional purposes by Promoter. 7. Wisconsin potatoes must be used and include: round red or white, new, russet, yellow flesh, fingerlings, blue and purple. 8.  Recipes will be judged for best tasting in the following categories:  salad; soup; side/appetizer; casserole. 9.  Finalists in each category will receive an assortment of prizes that may include but are not limited to potato cookbooks, totes, peelers, etc... valued at $100. 10. Finalists in each category will be entered in to a random drawing to win a grand prize valued at over $1,000 to be awarded by Minocqua Chamber of Commerce:

  • Two nights lodging at The Pointe Hotel and Suites - Minocqua's premier condominium resort, located on Lake Minocqua and walking distance to all the shopping and restaurants downtown ($300 value. No holidays. Good thru December 2010, excluding July and August)
  • $50 in Chamber Cash to spend at participating businesses
